Puglia
Puglia is the heel of Italy's boot, a long, flat, sun-baked region between two seas, the Adriatic and the Ionian. It is known for whitewashed towns like Ostuni and Polignano a Mare, the baroque stone of Lecce, the round trulli of Alberobello and olive groves that run for miles. I like to spend a day here the local way: a slow morning in a white-stone town, a long lunch, and the sea within reach on either side.
